Cookie Policy

Last updated: January 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Escalate uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website. We keep this intentionally minimal — Escalate is a simple, invite-only web service with no advertising and no third-party tracking.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They allow the website to recognise your browser and remember certain information between page loads or sessions.

Similar technologies include session storage (data stored temporarily in your browser tab) and local storage (data stored persistently in your browser). We refer to all of these collectively as “cookies” in this Policy.

Cookies We Use

Because Escalate is a lightweight, server-rendered web app with no user login system and no advertising, we use a very small number of cookies:

Essential cookies

These are strictly necessary for the website to function. Without them, certain features — such as form submissions and page navigation — would not work correctly. You cannot opt out of essential cookies while continuing to use the service.

  • Next.js runtime cookies — Set by our web framework to manage server-side rendering and routing. These are session-scoped and expire when you close your browser.

Functional cookies

We use browser session storage to temporarily hold your form progress while you are completing the onboarding form at /join. This data lives only in your browser tab and is never sent to a third party. It is cleared when you close the tab or complete the form.

Cookies We Do Not Use

We want to be explicit about what we do not do:

  • We do not use advertising or marketing cookies of any kind.
  • We do not use analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics) that track your behaviour across sessions or websites.
  • We do not use social media cookies or pixels (e.g. Meta Pixel, Twitter Pixel).
  • We do not share any cookie data with third parties.

How to Control Cookies

Since we only use essential and functional cookies, there is no cookie consent banner — you are not being tracked beyond what is required for the site to work.

If you wish to clear cookies or block them entirely, you can do so through your browser settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site. Instructions for common browsers:

Changes to This Policy

If we introduce any new cookies or tracking technologies in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required by law, seek your consent before setting them.
